01 — About the role
You will join the engineering team building the backend services behind Travls payments, wallet, card and travel journeys. This role suits an engineer who values clean design, thoughtful testing and dependable delivery. You will work with product and operations teams to turn complex real-world requirements into maintainable systems that scale.
02 — What you will do
- Design, build and improve backend services that support payments, card operations, wallet functionality and travel product integrations.
- Develop secure, well-documented APIs and service interfaces for internal teams and external partners.
- Improve reliability, observability, performance and operational readiness across critical customer journeys.
- Work closely with Product and Operations to understand real customer and partner needs before translating them into technical solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable code with meaningful tests, peer review and clear engineering documentation.
- Investigate production issues methodically and help prevent recurrence through better system design and monitoring.
- Contribute to technical standards, delivery practices and the evolution of the Travls platform architecture.
- Support the integration and ongoing operation of payments, travel and rewards partners.
03 — What you will bring
- Four or more years of backend engineering experience in a production environment.
- Strong command of Java and experience building APIs or microservices for customer-facing systems.
- Solid understanding of data modelling, relational databases, distributed systems fundamentals and service reliability.
- Experience with modern testing, code review, continuous integration and deployment practices.
- A disciplined approach to security, performance, debugging and operational ownership.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively in a fast-moving cross-functional team.
- Professional fluency in English.
04 — Helpful experience
- Experience with Kotlin, cloud infrastructure, container platforms, observability tooling or event-driven systems.
- Experience in payments, cards, fintech, travel technology or another high-reliability domain.
- Experience in a product-focused scale-up environment.
